Cupping therapy

What is cupping?

Cupping is where the therapist puts cups on certain parts of the body and a suction force creates a vacuum. This lifts the soft tissues and creates a stretch within the muscle and the associated fascia. It also helps to increase blood flow, reduce muscle tension and associated pain. The cups can either be left in certain areas or moved to provide a massage effect.

Cupping can aid soft tissue injuries and reduce pain/discomfort by;

  • Re-starting the healing process

  • Improving localised circulation

  • Helping to create a relaxation response

  • Providing relief of tight muscles
