Leanne Sharp - Principal Osteopath

B.Ost (Bachelors of Osteopathy)

PG Cert in equine & canine Osteopathy.

How it began...

Like many people I left school with little inspiration as to what to do with my life. After my horse developed issues with his leg, I entrusted treatment to an Osteopath and instantly knew what I wanted to do with my life! This is where the journey began. As I left school mid-way through my A-levels, I needed to complete an access course to build up the credits to advance on to the university course. I was fortunate to find an anatomy and physiology course that gave me sufficient credits to get into the university that I wanted to go to. This took me about a year to do alongside my work at the time back in 2013.

Graduate in London

The Studying...

After completing my course I got the results to confirm I had passed and had been accepted to study a Bachelors in Osteopathy degree at Staffordshire University, Stoke-On-Trent. I attained my Bachelors Degree with honours from Staffordshire university which was my first choice to attend. As there are only a few Universities which offer Osteopathy courses, Staffordshire University was the closest to where I live but was still roughly an hour and a half away, I enrolled and committed to the 5 year course. This meant travelling from Leicester to the university every other weekend & up to three times a week as the course progressed, to attend their clinic for for practice & assessments.

Once I was qualified to work on people I took a bit of time out to focus on building my practical training before returning to achieve my Post Graduate Certificate in 2021. This time attending the University College Of Osteopathy course for equine and canine osteopathy in Wantage, Oxfordshire to pursue my passion to work with animals.

This time it was a 2 hour drive one weekend a month, so not too bad!!

After adapting my specialism into Women's Health, I ventured back to study again in a range of subjects from Menopause to Acupuncture to aid in relieving menopausal symptoms and pregnancy complaints.

The Work...

After qualifying as an Osteopath I spent time working at a multi-disciplinary clinic in Nottinghamshire for roughly 5 years where I developed my holistic style of treatment, taking a wider view of the whole anatomy than just the subject area and had the fortune of working with a variety of therapists with different treatment specialities which helped to widen my skillset.

Whilst working in Nottinghamshire I also built an extensive patient list of animals that I used to treat from Family Dogs to Professional Event horses.

Although I love working with sports clients and animals, anyone who has followed me for a while will know that I had some difficulties with fertility and feeling a little underwhelmed with the services available, I moved my specialism into Women's health before going out on my own in the spring of 2022 and started working from the beautiful clinic in Frolesworth at the beginning of 2023 and I love my little room and its setting!!

Final Words...

My aim is to be able to help lots of people live their lives free from discomfort and help women set their bodies up for fertility, manage them through pregnancy & relieve some menopausal symptoms!!

When treating, I like to use a full body approach to get to the root cause of the issue while using a variety of treatments such as dry needling & cupping therapy. There is also Indian head massage for those that would like a more relaxing treatment!!

In my spare time I enjoy going out for walks with the dogs (and husband 😊), and socialising with friends.
